Minimum Guest Numbers:
A minimum of four guests is needed for kayak fishing trips to operate. Custom rentals at Sea Otter Lodge can have 1-10 guests. Over ten guests for Sea Otter Lodge is an additional $150/night per person. Happy Place Lodge is comfortable for 2-6 guests. Room layouts can be emailed upon request.
Small Watercraft Vessels:
All-inclusive guests have access to all the small boats at Sea Otter Lodge, including the fleet of Vibe fishing kayaks with Bixpy motors. For custom rental guests, they can add rental of the small watercraft vessels to their tailored stay at Sea Otter Lodge for fee priced on each type of boat. For rent we offer: paddleboard, canoe, rowboat, single kayaks, double kayak and small motorized aluminium skiff to use in the protected waters of Walter’ Cove surrounding the lodge.
Deposits:
We ask all lodge guests to provide a deposit. Your deposit secures your holiday, with the remainder due 60 days before your arrival.
All-inclusive kayak fishing - 30% deposit
Custom lodge rental - 50% deposit
Payment methods:
For Canadian guests of Sea Otter Lodge, we accept online payment by Interac e-transfer. For our American and International guests we accept credit card payments by telephone. Credit cards and other digital payment using Square payment app include 3.5% processing fee.

Cancellation Policy/refunds:
We always do our best to be as understanding, fair and flexible as possible to your circumstances. Our season is very short and holidays in Kyuquot usually sell one full year in advance. If you anticipate having to cancel your holiday, please contact us as soon as possible and discuss options. By working cooperatively together, we can find some solutions.
*Cancellation 60 days or more before your trip date
We retain the deposit & try to sell your space to a new guest. If we are successful in selling, we will refund the deposit in full. You may also have options to postpone your holiday until the next summer season or reschedule to another date in the same season, if available.
Please keep in mind that earlier notice makes reselling more possible.
*Cancelling within 60 before your trip date
We retain the total amount for the trip and we’ll still try our best to resell your space, but this is less likely. Postponing or rescheduling are good options, depending on availability. If the reason is for a medical concern, please send us confirmation of your medical circumstances and we’ll work with you to find a solution.
Late arrival and departure:
Sea Otter Lodge does not take responsibility for delayed arrivals or weather days during your trip. This also applies to missed connections, transfers or ferries. If we have flexibility in our Calendar we can try to be accommodating with date changes. If we do not have flexibility, unfortunately, we will need to retain the full amount.
Waivers:
All guests will be asked to sign a online waiver for both as a lodge guest and for any rental of small water craft vessels. To review our waivers, please click on the links. Please ask for any clarifications.
Travel Insurance:
Yes, we do recommend insurance. Refunds or credits will not be granted in the event of non-arrival due to travel or weather disruptions. Important Note on Operations:
Please note that while Sea Otter Lodge and Happy Place Cottage may share a website, the two accommodations are independently owned and separately operated entities in two different locations within Kyuquot.

Guest services and staffing
Rates, packages, and promotions
Terms and conditions, including cancellation and refund policies
